i think its about time yamaha or honda came out with a 2stroke enduro model. i rode he xr400 for a few months and it just lacks power. everyone says its really fast...i always ended up running out of gears. I ride a kdx220 now and its perfect, but id still like to see something from honda and/or yamaha. anyone else agree?

I agree, but a red or blue kdx won't cut it. I'd like to see something made to compete with current model ktm and huskys. The jap 250 mxers are pretty good for off road. But with lights, spark arrestor, wide ratio gearing, bigger tank, maybe smoother power with more bottom, and different suspension, who knows. I'd consider one for my next bike if it was available. Then again, look what happened with the rmx...

CR or YZ frame with an engine setup similar to the KDX ( enduro style) but a little more rip to it. and of course the headlights and tail lights, but a KTMish racing setup. a 235cc would be nice

IMO, the big 4 Japanese makers will never again produce a competitive 2 stroke enduro bike. So if you want one, you will have to 'make your own'. E-line has all the goodies you need. The only problem is it will end up costing you big $, but the end result is a great bike.

My '99 CRE was built by an AA enduro racer, has very good low end for a 250, and is an absolute joy to ride in the woods. IMO it is a far better trail and enduro bike than the KDXs and XR's I've ridden.

Honda is going out of it's way to be Green friendly and I would bet they will be the first to drop 2-strokes completely. They already have started producing 4-stroke jet drive water craft. And I don't think they ever produced a 2-stroke A_T_V

In the 80's and early 90's Honda made the trx250R, one of the most popular racing 4-wheelers of all time (and two-stroke). I don't think Honda made many, if any, 4-stroke 3-wheelers.

I just came accross that on the web, thats to bad, I thought that was built from the factory like that, although I guess it doesn't matter( I'll never see it in new hampshire unless I build it myself). I will admit that I've converted my last mx bike into an enduro bike. I went the whole 9 yards with my 01 RM250 and it was a waste of time and money.Twitchy handeling, week low end, abrupt midrange, bad gear ratios for offroad, soft clutch baskets. Alot of money and time wasted on that one. Tim

The older WR used to be 2-strokes. There is one guy in my riding club that goes pretty good on one. I think that 98 was the last year for them.

I ride a 91 WR 250 and I love the thing but it is getting a little old. It has some ergonomics (tank) issues, though it has awsome range, but the current WR 250F has the same (or worse) issues. I will miss the 2 strokes when they are gone.... or maybe I'll be an outlaw!?... OOPS just kidding! :D
