I have a 98 isuzu rodeo and the check engine and check transmission light are blinking. The car has been taken into the shop a little bit ago to see what was causing the blinking but they could not figure out what was causing it. If the battery is disconnected both lights stop blinking until the car exceeds about 65mph then both lights start blinking again no matter what speed until you disconnect the battery. As well as the car garages that are supposed to be able to fix cars, I am very curious if there is a fix for this blinking light annoyance? Thanks in advance for any help.

Now this is a bit off the wall, but I owned a 94 Isuzu for 7 years and had some odd light problems. How many miles are on the truck? When mine hit 90k, the O2 light automatically came on and the E brake light was blinking. The reason was it hit a scheduled maint period and had to have the dash removed and a screw swapped from spot a in the dash to spot b which reset it to come on at 180 k miles. Do you have a Chiltons or Haynes manual? They are pretty good witht he trouble shooting steps and usually it's something that is supposed to be done that Isuzu had put in the computer, It's just a bit vague.

..or take out the bulbs!

Seriously, get a manual or a new mechanic. Or both! I don't have that particular manual or I'd do some research for you. They sell for around $25 at most parts stores. Good luck, YZ165

The computer in your vehicle is picking up a malfunction somewhere, most likely the trans, which is why both lights were turned on. The vehicle needs to be scanned to see what codes were infact picked up, then you can go from there. Bring it to someone with a scanner for your make vehicle, or the dealer. The dealer will probably be more expensive to deal with, but your check engine light will be nothing new to them, and they will have the appropriate equipment to check and take care of your problem. Mike :)
