I don't agree. I had a harder time learning to NOT use the clutch and wound up on my side plenty of times. The only thing I agree with is using it when you've made a shifting mistake, short shifted before a jump or if it's lugging in a rythm section. But, hey, for all I know they enjoyed watching me pick my bike up out of the dirt :)

As for squaring off a turn, lol, I spend all of my time trying to round them off! I've seriously gotta leave this thread before I start debating the meaning of slipping versus fanning versus feathering versus tapping

so what if your on the pipe coming out of a corner without using the clutch? should you still slip the clutch? or is the whole point of sliping the clutch to get on the pipe?

So really, you are only hung up on the terminology?

The whole point is to keep the bike in the meat of the power and to keep the backtire putting that power to the ground without breaking loose. if you are on the pipe and getting traction the clutch is going to do nothing but slow you down.

How often are you on the pipe going into a corner? I'm hauling butt into the corner, braking hard, and usually downshifting a gear going in. I dont want to be shifting coming out of the turn so I use the clutch to get my RPM's up. I'll fan, slip, feather, drop, or do whatever to the clutch to get me through a turn and ined up for the next obsticle.

I think Okie said it best: control the power and keep the RPMs in the meat.
