I wish I could afford a real street bike, but for now the kdx will have to do. When I am ready to get a street bike, I will be looking at both the VTX and the V-Star. Both are great looking bikes!

you want to fight gas prices? here is an email I got:
IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.

THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1ST HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP
THEIR @$$ " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE
DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN
PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT
THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON
EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING
MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE
YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE
CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

PLEASE FORWARD THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU CAN!!!!

Yeah, right like there won't be somebody in the us that will buy gas tommorrow.

That is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. Your going to need the gas, just because you don't buy it one day doesn't mean you are going to need less tommorrow. They aren't going to "choke" on their stockpiles because right now because of Katrina we have lost approx 10% of our refining capabilities. Gas prices are high because the demand is high. It isn't the fact that we can't get the crude, it is the fact that we use so much of it. Not only that but China is a developing nation and we are competing with them for fuel, their needs have skyrocketed over the last couple of years wich is another reason for high demand. Bush is about to let some of the nations oil reserve out, I don't think it is going to anything for gas prices. It is more of a political move. If we could make more refineries we would probably see prices go down, but the conservationalist have made it so hard no one has built one since 1972. It will self correct eventually, the market will demand it. Within a few years I bet we will see full size trucks and suv's get 30-35 mpg. Simple economics, supply, demand.

You lot are sickening moaning about gas prices. You want to try rip off Britain. For Super unlead in some places it's over a pound a litre. Thats 1.8 usd a litre. That would be 8 usd a gallon(assuming4.54ltrs), although I believe a US gallon is smaller. If I could pay the same as the US for fuel I'd leave the car running over night so it was warm in the morning ready for work. Hell I'd probably by a petrol cooker. :ahhh:

I am a police officer in a huge city. I spent the night breaking up fights at gas stations all because the scumbags that own the gas stations decided to raise the prices in a big way today. Shell' came on the news today and for some reason or another said that they are not bringing any deliveries to the South east for a week. Soo all the gas stations jacked their prices up big time. Gas was 4 dollars to 5 dollars a gallon today. Needless to say there were lots of disgruntled people. I got lucky when all the BS started I parked my patrol car and filled up my own vehicle at 2.89 a gallon. Thank god I sold my race van and got a nice 4 cylinder truck. Now I may go out and get a rice rocket for the commute. There was one station that didnt raise their prices. When I asked why, the owner said "he wasnt going to gouge someones eyes out just because he could." I will be buying my fuel there from now on. Funny- the owner was american.

I fill up my diesel work truck for $100 about 5-6 times a month. I guess that is expected...(at least in my mind). But the prices really hit home when it costs $12 to cut the grass! (5 acres) I'm a small time contractor, and this has been my slowest year yet. I think with ma and pa homeowner putting out another $200-$300 a month for fuel, we've ALL tightened our belts! We all p*ss and moan, but keep buying... a key sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results........guess that makes me nutty too.

At least in Britain your probably accustomed to those prices. Here in the states the price is doubling overnight and it's going to cause changes on how we live. I'm investigating electric cars, wind generators, and solar power because it's opened my eyes. This is coming from a gas guzzling american that restores antique cars which are extremely thirsty on fuel.

The problem is with the increase over a period of time mod edit If your prices went up by 50% in a period of a couple of months you would have a right to spout off mod edit

Think about what you say before it comes to fruition.

Refreshing to see someone who sees it exactly as I do.
Boycotting fuel purchases is a kneejerk reaction that can only be carried out by the ignorant.
Find and blame the real cuplrits here folks. Stop listening to Anderson Cooper and the liberal media. They want to use this to further their attack on freedom.
If you can't see that it is regulation and restrictions that have us stiffled, then you obviously haven't investigated and are simpy listening to the liberal establishment.
Some folks love to repeat ignorant crap they hear on the liberal media as if it were fact.
The liberals depend on your continued support by not investigating things and simply taking what they tell you as fact.
I really don't like being anyone's patsy. But I spose some of you really enjoy it.

BTW...I find that conservation is possibly the single most important thing we can do to help things.

You don't get it....We have states here that DWARF Britain...We are much more spread out here in the U.S. than Europe..That is the factor Europeans can't seem to grasp when they compare gas prices and say that U.S. citizens are whiners...

There are many, many people that drive 50 miles to work one way...That's 500 to 600 miles per week and many of these folks drive cars that get 10 miles to the gallon....Figure that up and $3 per gallon gets expensive real quick...

Stimps, I had the same outlook as you, but have a look at this.

http://www.energy.ca.gov/gasoline/s...on_country.html

Badgerman posted it in another thread, where I complained, but it makes you realise that its so much cheaper in the states because they use so much more.
You want cheaper petrol? Go live in America. Oh, you dont want a hurricane tearing your house apart? The grass is always greener mate...

Most large banks now offer a cash back type of credit card that gives as much as 5% back on your gasoline purchases. They send it to you as a check with your monthly statement. I just replaced my old style visa with such a card. Five percent off on gas at 3.00/gallon is a 15 cent per gallon reduction!

I put a link to a particular card as an example above but it did not get past the spam patrol so you'll have to do your own searching.

Sorry Rich, I should have known better and no, I don't work for a bank. :nener:

Liberals Vs Conservatives blah blah blah...Repubs VS. Dems...Smoke and mirrors is all it is.....You speak alot about facts but there are none in your vague rant.

If you would actually just sit and think about what the words "conservative" and "liberal" actually mean you would also learn that the "conservatives" in office are anything but conservative....Both parties spend HUGE amounts of money...And actually our "conservative" administration is more "liberal" with gov. spending than any other president in history.

You said:

And you said:

Uhhh...Not buying fuel for a day is conserving...The only difference is that you labeled it a boycott when the guy said not to buy fuel for a day....
