I have a 1996 yz 80 how much and what weight oil do I use? rider is 140  lbs with equipment and is a novice rider.

My thoughts are that he is a bit heavy for the stock suspension. I suggest
10 wt oil at 80mm from the top, springs removed, forks collapsed. For best results he needs springs front and rear and a revalve to suit his weight , ability and riding style.

I see you live in Fla. - - probably ride a lot of sand so your setup can be somewhat different than what we'd use on "hard ground"[ask some local racers about this] Go to Race-tech.com, type in your bike, rider weight, ability, etc,etc and you'll get a recommended spring rate , oil weight and oil level - - read your owners manual for how to correctly measure the oil level It will differ quite a bit from RTs recommendations but use RTs numbers.
