I have a 92 KDX200 and am interested in replacing the fork springs. I don't know what springs are in the bike now but I do know that I cannot get them to be stiff enough. Any suggestions? I am an intermediate rider, 185lbs. and would prefer significantly stiffer forks.. thanks -

If you can find some oem XR400 springs I would use them.
I had them in my bike until I put a KTM front on it.(WP)
you may find some second hand it will be cheaper than new ones.
I weighed the same as you and the XR springs work really well.
They are longer so machine the factory spacers down to get about
8mm pre load.
I believe the longer the spring the better.Don't know why Kawasaki
have such a long spacer tube.It seems a waste taking up coil space.
I will sell mine but I'm in Australia .Bit to hard, cost etc.
Good Luck

............ if he has a '92 model, it will have conventional rod type forks like my '91 model I am thinking. Not USD forks or even the conventional cartridge style forks of later years.

Am I correct? In that case does the XR spring fit?

In my case, at 95 kilograms (about 210 lbs) I used a set of Eibach .45 springs and 10 wt oil. And jeez what a difference it made, it made the bike handle so much better that it felt like a completely different bike.
