i have a 2000 cr250 .i was wondering how far i should put my forks above the top clamp. my sag is 100mm im 200lbs. i ask cause all other crs i see have the forks above the clamp and mine are not.only the fork cap is above it. and my bike seems hard to turn especialy at higher speeds.

I would be careful moving them up too much because you can cause excessive rubbing on the front fender and even a violent hit from the tire hitting the fender. Just move them up a little at a time and check under your front fender for marks.

On the 2000 CR250 the forks were setup to handle both 20" and 21" front tires (I believe). There should be a mark (ring) on the fork tube about 5mm down from the top, this is where you should start if you have a 21" stock wheel.

I ran mine up as far as 10-12mm with no problems. Since I use a steering damper, I had no worries about headshake. Cornering is much improved. I did this on my 99 and now do it on my 02. Never had any issues with fender rubbing. If you go too far, the bike turns too quickly, and tends to knife in on the corners. Adjust 2-3mm at a time to find out what works best for you. It's amazing how a 2mm change can make a world of difference.
