I have a customer that started loosing rebound clicks on his KYB shock. It got to where it had only 9 clicks from full soft to full hard reb. I figured that the inner rebound rod inside the shaft had been corrodided or bent or sticking somehow. Once inside it I found that the point (which is threaded into the rod) had come loose which was making the rod longer & longer. I red locktighted it & put it back together and is working fine. I wonder if this is isolated or will we see more of it?

Do you need to remove the clevis to get at the rod or can you get at it from the piston end?

You need to take the clevis off. Make sure to get it "timed" right back on the shaft with about 20-23 clicks. Can't remember the stk. number of clicks at this moment. It doesn't hurt to get some lube on the inner rebound screw threads while it's off too.
