I'm looking to paint the frame on my 93 kx250. What kind of paint is best to use and is there anything special i need to do to prep the frame for paint? What product works best for removing old paint from the frame? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Use a wire brush wheel from an angle grinder to clean off the old paint. After all the paint is off clean it with prep-wash or prep-sol. Panel beaters use this to clean the panels before being repainted. Use etch primer to prime the frame. Do a few coats of that and then go down to your moty shop and buy the proper Kawasaki Green spray paint. You will probably need 2 cans or so. Top it off with clear coat. Also don't worry if the wire brush leaves marks, when you prime it, it will fill them up. I did this to my 1990 KX125 and it looked like new!!!

If you decide to spend a few bucks on this, dont overlook powdercoating. It is very durable and looks great. Expect to pay anywhere from 100-300 on this.

by the time you have spent all of the cash on paint and prep solvents notwithstanding the time it takes, you might as well get it powder coated....you take them the dirty frame, they shot blast it and then coat it and it comes back better than new, but this coating is much more durable

Shagman:
I recently re-painted my '91 YZ250, changed from white to black. I used a combination of chemical stripper, sand blasting and wire brush. It is quite tedious to get into all the nooks and crannies, but make sure you get all the old paint off. It's a great way to get intimate with your bike!

If you're planning on keeping the bike a while, go with the powdercoat man. It's less hassle, looks better and lasts longer.
