Just bought a 1988 cr125 from a young boy, he had the front forks almost out of air because he is really short, but i cant ride with them that soft, my question is how much air pressure is right for them in a 1988? also, how do you get them baired them up to where they 'feel' right, but i tried to measure the pressure with my gauge to equal them out and the gauge wont register, guess its not enough pressure..
help!!

there is supposed to be no pressure in them.
put the bike on a stand to let the forks extend all the way then let any pressure differences out.
to stiffen the forks takes heavier springs by your weight or turning the compression adjusters . im not familiar with an 88 but there shoulld probably be a flat blade screw at the top and very bottom of each fork (bottom should have rubber cap over it) one or the other is compression and rebound. check the net for your particulars

ok, went out and looked, on the bottom of the forks it DOES have the flat blade screwdriver adjustments, but that is the only adjustment on the forks, there is nothing on the top except for the air valves, as i said, i put some air in them and now it feels right, but you say i need to take all the air out..so if i adjust the bottom adjusters will this stiffen them up?
thanks again!

If there are shraeder valves on the forks, and they are stock, then they were designed to have pressure in them. Probably about 6-12 PSI. Experiment 'til you find what works best.
