well i recently aquired a 1991 rm 250 frame and i was wondering about forks. im not looking to put aftermarket forks on the bike because its use is just for trails (so i keep my 04 crf450 fresh!). anyway if i cant find the forks that were on this thing originally what can i do? can i put say cr forks on or kx forks. now i dont have any of the steering assembly so can i adapt one of these others to it? and what would i have to change?
thanks

Make sure the steering stem bearings are the same size as the bearing race you have installed in the frame tube. This is the most critical part. Quite a few are interchangeable because I've heard a few stories of different front ends on different bikes. In the worst case scenario, you can always buy a bearing that would bridge the gap at General Bearing.
