front sprocket removal

i recently broke my bottom end case, i need to remove sprocket but the sprocket n everything else turns , the engine is off the bike . is there anyway i can stop the sprocket from moving so i can undo the nut holding it on?

take the mag cover off and put a strap wrench around the fly wheel and use an impact gun

This is one of those horses that we've beaten to death around here...

Do a simple search and you should come up with about 50 different methods for
locking up that engine.

Cut yourself an old piece of rear chain about 10 to 12" long. Find a piece of pipe that the chain fits inside the end and bolt it or weld it to the pipe. Using the chain to wrap around the sprocket and the pipe as a handle, loosen the countershaft sprocket nut. Works like a strap wrench only with a chain. :cool:
