*I Want to change out the front sprocket from a 13t to 14t, but have never done this. How do I remove the front Sprocket and replace this?

remove chain, remove circlip, remove sprocket. Install sprocket, circlip, and chain.

I have a 13t/52t combo now with plenty of adjustment avail so I am hoping not to have to replace the chain, as the chain and rear sprocket are in excellent shape. Thank you for your help.

Interesting that you would run a 52 on the back and go to a 14 up front. That's going to put you back somewhere close to the stock 13/48.

That is what I am wanting. 1st gear is almost useless to me now and 6th winds out too much on the fire roads I am riding on now. I dont ride much so a complete drive change out is not what I am looking for at this point.

I'm running 15/47 for Desert. I love it over stock. Took it to Baja with a lot of high speed fire roads and Dry Lakes. :yikes:

P.S. check out the most 'awesome' gear ratio chart for your KDX to see the difference the 14T will make.

Umm... okay I made it myself. I have too much time on my hands. Dum de do de do...

thats cool I just played with it for the first time I measured my dunlap 803 trials out at 86 inches.

joburble you seem like a very smart guy (i can only just barely use excell...do you happen to know what the kdx winds out at ??
I guess that would depend on the tuning of the engine/jetting

I also guess that 5000 rpm is like lugging it...seems I have never hooked up a tach but these kdx's Idle around 1500- 2000 don't they??

Hi sr5bidder, thanks for the compliment, I will take them when I can get them ;). Sorry I have no idea how high the KDX will rev so I don't know it's top speed.

I'm not 100% sure on max rpm. I know the max hp on the H series is rated 37 @ 8000rpm. Maybe 9k before it falls flat? Possibly a generous estimate. I'm going to get an rpm gauge on mine one of these days. I think max RPM on the E series would prove to be a touch lower. Factory says 36hp @ 7500rpm for the E series bikes.
