I have alway's measured the fuel level height where the tang just sit's on the pin on the float valve, just about 45degree angle.I have run into this problem i had before right before idle it would sound like the bike was drawing a little more fuel with a ting ting ting right before idle.I was reading my service manual and it states to measure the float height with the carb upside down,6.5mm + -1 it even shows a picture the carb completely upside down .This would drop the valve all the way down which i would have to bend the tang to bring the level up to 6 mm which would make the level way lower then just resting it on the valve.I did it and i was saying to myself this isn't even going to start the level is going to be too low.It cranked up and it ran way crisper it was pretty good before, but that run off of fuel was gone the ting ting ting after i chopped the throttle was gone.I could not believe the manual states to turn the carb upside down when you measure.I have no bog when i crack the throttle, full throttle it pulls with no lean signs at all.I hope this manual is right i hope i am not border line lean. The only way i can figure out why they state upside down is because of the shorty carb.
