Gaerne SG 10

I need some new boots and my local shop had some SG 10s in stock. And I was going to replace my old Sidis with some new Sidis but he had these Gearne instead so I was just wondering if anyone here had any real riding time with them? They are a really good looking boot. But when I tried them on, and started walking around with them, it felt like the hinge was not properly located? There was a lot of flex in the boot, toward the front of the hinge. More than a a hinged boot should have (I thought). My Sidi Force are a 1/2 size smaller so this could be a factor in the flex of the upper part of the boot? But my Sidi are 2 years old and don't flex half as much? I did liked the way the buckles had 2 ways to tighten though. But I was just wondering what you guys thought of these boots? If anyone had these?

Well, I didn't think there was a WHOLE LOT of forward flex in them. But more than I thought a pair of hinged boots should have. But like I said, mabey it's just because I've been wearing the same boots for a couple of years now. But don't get me wrong, they are a really nice boot. I just think they placed the hinge in the wrong place. When I looked at them in the store (and even in the picture in the article) the hinge looked like it was placed to far back. But I'm no foot Doctor either :) Truthfully it is by far a better boot than there old SG1 that they use to have for $250. But one thing I do not agree with on TWM review is where they wrote
"Because it does have a stand-alone leather boot beneath the hinged support system, the SG-10 does feel stiffer than the Sidi Force when it comes to up and down flexibility."

Ya know, like I wrote before, my old Sidi Force are a 1/2 size smaller than the Gaerne that I tried on, and they felt "Newer" than the Gaerne. I'm not trying to crap on Gaerne or anything (although I know it looks like it) I thought mabey others had simialar experiance. But I guess not? Mabey it's just a old man who doesn't want to change his ways :nener: That's what my wife always tells me anyways.

Anybody else have these boots? I guess I'll go up to the shop and look at them again. This time I'll take my Sidi Force with me and compare them.

I was just needing some new boots and he hasn't got his supply of boots yet. But he had these, and was going to cut me a good deal

Vic, I know what you are saying about the bulging when bending your ankle. That really had me worried, about how well the boot would protect my foot compared to my Sidis that I currently had already. Well, it worried me so much I decided against buying the SG 10 and stuck with my Sidis until my dealer gets some new Sidis in :cool:
Nothing against the Gaerne, but they have a long way to go in my opinion. The SG 10 is a good boot, but they need to work with it a little bit.
And the only problem with the buckles I encounter on my Sidis, is the very top buckle comes loose. Every other buckle stays right where it should. And as far as eating up the air box goes. That just shows me that my boot not only protects my foot. But keeps me hooked onto the bike when I'm 20-30ft in the air, and that's cool with me :)

Well, that all depends on you. I myself like the hard, stiff, feel of the Flex Force SRS. But if you go with these, it is wise to put antisieze on the screws that hold the soles on. And even wiser (if you ride in weather) to back the screws out every now and then, to make sure they don't seize up. Trust me, they will :bang:

But like I said, it's all personall preference. Whatever feels best, yah know ;)
And, if your wondering about the SRS (about them not having a steel tip), I have banged them around pretty good, and haven't broken a toe or foot yet.
