- A large gas tank buried in the ground with a pump handle would be cool. Don't know if the EPA/local laws would still allow this, but we had one at the cottage to fill up all the toys. Very convenient - only had to have it refilled twice a year.
- A high-end security system with motion detectors, security camera w/ tape loop.
- A 60" HDTV wall mounted display for some in-your-face extreme sports DVDs.
- I'd keep the floor a solid color on the lighter side like someone else mentioned. It's be a whole lot easier to find that dropped bolt/washer/spring, etc.

Your'all thinking too small.....
Plans? We don't need no stinking plans. Just buy up one of Walmarts old stores--they're always going bigger. Now add everything mentioned, and around the perimeter, built the race track--INDOORS! No worry about the weather. And after that's done, build a woods track--INDOORS! Add some of Cabela's taxidermy of big game animals to make it lifelike.
How to pay for it all? You allow riding on the weekends. The tree huggers won't give a dam when you crash into those fake trees and furry animals that never move. Why can't we have it all?

Well, we just finished building our house and My Dream Garage anyway (at least the best I'll probably ever have). The wife's still mad at me for painting the garage before any of the rooms in the house but I'm sure she'll get over it. ;) Anyway, it's nothing too fancey but some of the "cooler" things I have is: Wired for Cable, Stereo system with digital cable radio, and florescent lighting. Things I want: Retractable air hose with air compressor hidden in attack, more metal cabinets, and a vintage car to work on. :aj: Why are garages just so Cool!!
Awhile back on Motorcyclist TV (I think) they showed Randy Hawkins place. From the outside, it looked like a regular steel building placed on some wooded, rolling hillside. But inside he's got a beautiful home attached to an awesome looking shop. :worship: Now THAT'S what I want! :yeehaw:

I'd add to make sure there is enough storage, I always seem to have a "few" sets of old tires that have one or two more rides left in them handing around, old pipes, etc... remember no matter how big you make it, YOU WILL grow to fill it!
I think it was mentioned, but the ability to separate the wood working area from the mechanical area. I still like my power tools :) and the missus always wants that piece of trim put up or the sticky door fixed when the bike is apart or the carb is off! :confused:

I am trying to come up with some pics of my shop, with the lift (I know I have them, just gotta find them). It is electic over hydralic. Form a concrete pit for the table to go down into, and dig a hole about 5 feet deep in the center to drop the cylinder down into. (small version of a auto lift) Unfortunatly mine was an after thought after I had already poored the floor, so I never did get around to recessing it to floor level, although that was the original concept. I drew out what I wanted, and took it to a local manufacturer, and they built it for me. I 'll dig up some pics this weekend and let you take a look.

A decent high workbench with a high roller chair for working on fiddly things such as carbs etc without any back strain.
A blacksmith's anvil for adjusting bent metal parts.
A BFH for adjusting bent metals parts.
A comfortable and easily cleanable couch off to one side with a direct view to the 'entertainment system', TV, Video, Stereo etc... Sometimes you need to relax a little after working on the bike.
Lots of electrical sockets spread around the place with 'residual current' circuit breakers on each one (so that you can still hose the floor out if and when you need to).
Adjustable flood lights on a stand and rollers, so you can point some light at the side on your bike rather than from the top like normal ceiling mounted fluro tubes.
As much storage space and cabinet space as possible.
A floor mounted tyre changing system with a 'bead breaker' (rear trials tyres can be a b#tch to change!)
A hardened steel loop concreted into the floor, so that you can kryptonite your bike(s) to it when you're out of town for a while.
Overhead racks to store long things such as market umbrellas, skiis, ladders and all that stuff.
It might be a good idea to go and have a look at some workshops used by motorbike shops and car dealerships, as sometimes they have some really great gadgets and ideas on how to make things as ergonomic and efficient as possible.

Not so sure. I'd like to know if it's as good as it looks. If it is, it could make a funky old garage look durn near as good a Thump's and SingleTracker's.

It looks great. But knowing how dirty my garage gets, it looks like it'd be a pain to clean, especially with the mesh/grid style tiles.
What do you do when you have to get all the dirt and leaves out? I sweep and/or hose my garage out throughout the year. It seems like all that dirt would just fall through the grid. I wouldn't want to pull it up just to hose out the garage. Don't think it'd be practical to hose the grid down to get the dirt out.
Now if I had a showroom, that'd be a different story...

The Race Deck garage floor is solid and has a "diamond plate" appearance. Still, I would be worried about spending that kind of coin and then not liking it.
