Gasgas EC250 carb spacer mod

Hi
Am told that adding a spacer between carb and head will soften the power of the 250 so that it's more like the EC200 to ride.
Has anyone had any experience of this or is it all BS!

KTM did this on the 200. Adding a 4mm spacer mellowed out the hit slightly and helped the bottom end.

I have no idea if this would also be true on the GG 250.
