gear oil 98 kx125 , water pump seal?

My gear oil goes white as soon as i ride after an oil change, i know kx`s seem to suffer from this but a friend says that he changed the seal behind the water pump on his and it cured the problem ???

what do you think? is it worth the hassle and is it eazy to do?
