The previous owner of my 96 200 had the gearing at 14/50. I notice most people run at 13/50. my front sprocket is in premo shape and it came with a brand new 14t sprocket as well and the rear could def use a change. would there really be a difference in going down one tooth on the front as opposed to going one or two up in the rear?

13 50 is almost 4:1 that is 1 tooth on the front equals nearly 4 on the rear. Don't run a 13 on the front if you haven't felt the need to gear down.
