) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
I am 5'6", 190lbs
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
I am pretty sporty - I ride standup jetskis Freestyle
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
woods, fields, maybe some track - don't know yet
4) Do you have any riding experience?
12 years, off and on. Both street bikes and dirtbikes, smaller mostly
5) Do you think you will race ?
No.
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
Yes. I port my own two-strokes
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
2-stroke. I know them
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
Kawi, Honda
9) How much do you plan to spend on a bike?
Thousand or less
I am looking at a couple different options....an 83 CR125 with a broken clutch bolt and a broken waterpump gear, for $500.
An 83 Suzuki DR500 needing some carb work, but supposedly runs, good rubber, for $200
And then an early to mid-nineties CR500 with recent motor rebuild (got receipts) for $1200.
I suppose a 500 is quite powerful – I am aware of that. FWIW, a couple months ago I rode an 88 CBR600 for a couple of months without a problem.
I know…the power delivery is entirely different. Just saying that I have some experience with bigger engine bikes.
I like doing my own work by the way – I am very comfortable around 2-strokes.
Any words of advice?
