Getting spring off of xr 50 shock?

I cant figure out how to get the spring off of the shock!!! There isnt a ring or collar like on my sons RM 65, it looks like the shock is a single piece. Any help would be appreciated!!

The key is to heat the area where the threads are. I've done several, using both a heat gun and hair dryer: both work fine just the hair dryer takes longer. Immediately after heating, I grab the slider/stanction w/vice grips w/a cloth on them and put a screwdriver or similar throw the eye, and turn. It shouldn't require much strength... if it doesn't come off easily you likelt need more heat.
