I'm in Southern Michigan, too. I was riding on Sunday and Monday, and actually had DUST! Totally thawed and dried track!! Today I could barely make it into work because of all the snow. My buddy is supposed to be bringing over two snowmobiles this weekend so we can do some Snowcrossin' (on the very track that had dust a few days ago!).

Come on, Spring!

Here in KC it is all ice-about 4" deep! Sleet, topped with 1" of ice. We have estimated 200,000 people w/o power.

I just finished clearing one side of our driveway. Does anybody have one of them, thar heart shockin' machines?! I thought I was going to keel over a couple of times-not fun!

Like I told a couple other Team NTAC boys this morning, it serves you right for being able to ride over the weekend!

Actually, I feel for you guys. Just think of all that overtime the power company guys are gonna get! I just hope it doesn't raise your rates like it did to us up here. :scream:

Snow Blowers don't do anything for ice, Bundu! It's really bad here. State of emergency declared, asking for federal relief, etc. Supposed to be the worst ice storm in the history of KC. There were 270,000 without power at the peak, down to 225k now. The whole city looks like a war zone coated in ice. Nearly every tree has at least some branches that are broken off. I spent about 4 hours today helping to clear mine and my parents' driveways and walkways. I was without power for about 3 hours last night, things are still flickering every now and then. North of the river they also got up to 12" of snow. Thunder 33 lost a car and part of his garage to a tree and is still without power. They are staying with friends. The only good thing is that it is relatively warm-just above the freezing mark. The ice will chunk up with a scraper and can be shoveled away, and the roads are wet but not frozen. We got 2+ inches of rain since Tuesday afternoon and every bit of it is frozen solid on trees, cars, houses, etc. I drove around town today taking pictures of all the downed trees and frozen solid cars. I'll post a couple when I get them developed. This has not been a fun couple of days...

Both Blue Thunder's house and mine lucked out and never lost power...so far.

I finally finished the driveway about 5:45pm, only to have the Don Garlits of snow removal literally blast all of the wayward iceback onto the first 15ft of my driveway. AARRRGGGHHH!!!

As Lou stated, it could have been way worse for many of us and let's hope the ones w/out power are staying warm.

BTW Lou, I extended this to Jason if him and Lisa lost power, if you or any of the other KC guys/gals need a warm place to sleep, let me know.

Update:

Went to work this morning for the first time since Tuesday-and had to turn around and come right back home. No power! There are still about 150k without power, lots of signals not working, and I even saw a transformer explode somewhere over the horizon as I was heading back for the highway. My work is in one of the oldest parts of KC and quite frankly, it was scary driving underneath 100+ year old trees that were drooping for all they were worth. I was waiting to get crushed in my truck. Plus the big, rumbling dual exhaust probably wasn't helping any of those branches stay on the trees. At least I still have power (and HEAT). Even one of the local news stations is still without power and they are broadcasting via remote from an auditorium somewhere in town. The wind is supposed to pick up here soon but the temp is supposed to reach 38 on Saturday with sunny skies. Hopefully that will get all the ice that is above ground, well, on the ground and out of the trees and powerlines.

I guess sometimes it's good to live in the Land of Enchantment after all. It snowed a little bit (4") and no ice (I hate ice storms ,grew up in the south) and we will be racing at Tularosa theis weekwnd. Much sympathy for the snow and ice bound up north. come on down and see us and we'll roost! BTW snowmelt makes the best wet sand there is, traction deluxe:cool:

Your parents live in a tree! Geez BigLou the least you could do is let them stay with you when it's that cold outside. :D

What's that clearcoat protection package cost on those Fords?

It's pretty expensive when it's that thick. 5000 mil thickness, I think. Takes a while to buff it out. Adds about 2000 lbs. to the truck, too.

Well I for 1 have had it. I am transplanting my whole family to New Mexico or AZ this comming summer. This "crappy" "mild" winter stuffs has pushed me over the edge. I might as well live in a rain forest this winter. All it has been is 20 to 40 degrees and snow today and rain tommorrow. I used to live outside of El Paso and every day was fair game... I am going back.

North central/north eastern Oklahoma and south centra/southeast Kansas got the same storm. There is alot of devastation. I've noticed that a few of the Heartland Spodes have not been online lately as well.:scream:

Brian-Do you remember Al (Agent Orange) from DW? They are still without power after 2-1/2 days. So is Jamie about five miles north of us. Al and I (and my parents) all live in the same subdivision. It's just that side of the street that he's on, I guess. Either way, it's a big, big mess. Hope the rest of the HS's are OK.

I figure Justql's phone is out and likely his power as well. It is not like him not to log on to DRN around 5:00pm. Hopefully, he remembered he owns a generator.:p

Same here in New York. Looks like the pic's BigLou posted! My nabors tree fell on to his gerage(sp?) with his half done hotrod (that he had been working on for 10+ years HA) in side of it! Trees were literley exploding yesterday. You know when they get wet then it freezes, the water has no place to go but out and the tree goes boom. This is some crazy stuff over here! in my back yars there was 5 in. of water to day its 5in. of ice! Oh wel got me ought of school friday but Amherst is still in a state of imergincey(sp?). Crazy crazy stuff!

Generator??? ON boy I feel dumb...

No really the generator is at my folks so my Dad could work on thier cabin at the farm. We are one of the lucky ones, we have power, about half of the people in town do not. I have had no cable or internet since Wednesday. Talk about quiting cold turkey. I haven't complained much though. Every time I have thought about no internet I have thought of the people with no power since Wed. They say it might be a week more. Crews are in town from throughout KS and OK.
Wednesday morning I saw 10 Asplundh trucks lined up coming into town from the south. There were about ten electric company trucks(private company) that pulled down the street this afternoon. They asked if we had power, when we said yes. They took off.
Lots of tree damage in town. I've seen tornados, this is like that except the buildings are fine. I lost one tree completely. Major damage to six others. Also lost a nice six foot high privacy hedge in my backyard. I removed about 2/3 of the damage today and will hoprfully finish tommorow.

Boy it's nice to be back on DRN.
