Ever notice how the greenies start yelling global warming every time we have a mild fall. Here in Nebraska we had our normal 60^ day followed by a 20^ day followed by single digit temps and a late November snow storm that left half our state buried in 4' snow drifts. All of this happened 20 days before the first day of winter!
I personally think the number of airline flights is effecting our weather more than anything else. I'm no expert but how many hundreds of flights are there each day and night and those jet engines are pumping tons of superheated air into the jet stream. This has to have an effect on our weather pattern. Every time I fly I look down at the earth and think how minuscule we really are. I can’t believe my vehicle is having a greater impact on the environment than a jet engine, or that the solution lies within banning snow mobiles or 2-cycle engines.
Hmm, maybe we'll evolve our way out of this...

Actually the contrails of all the airliners cool the planet down. They block the sun (admittedly, just a little). They did a study on this just after 9-11 when all the flights were grounded.

I believe in it. All the deforestation and smoke that we've produce has to have some effect on our little biosphere. We don't have a permanent lease on existence. If temps were to change on an average of 5 degrees world wide, there would be some HUGE changes in climate and our ability to produce food.

The Mt. Pinatubo eruption alone put more material into the atmosphere than all man made activity in history.

If temps were to increase worldwide, our ability to increase food would INCREASE. Some equatorial areas would suffer, and some low lying coastal areas would be underwater. But the vast majority of the earth (Look at Russia alone) would be better suited to agriculture and other plant growth. Guess what - the additional plant life would produce more oxygen.

FWIW, I am perfectly happy to believe the world is warming. However, IMO it is very likely that this is part of a complex cycle and that our activities have little impact.

Global warming is true, we've been warming up since the last ice age. However, man's pitiful little existence isn't the cause, IMHO.

exactly.

I could use a little warming right now. But I guess since the AMA is banning two-strokes, we won't have any global warming any time soon.

here I go.........Them scientists are full of :uh: . They only focus thier studies with one theory in mind. And it helps influence those studies if someone that runs around in a skirt and doesn't flush the toilet after they take a piss becuase they don't want to "waste" water is the person that is paying for the study.

Scientests can be bought out just like anybody else.

I say global warming is good anyway, that just gives us more places to ride! :ride:

exactly. it all depends on who is paying for the study. Blind funding is the only way to get an honest answer to anything.

Europe is actually cooling and there is a new theory that global warming is causing ocean currents to change, which is why Europe is cooling.

Seriously.

I have a theory that the taco salad I ate for lunch yesterday contributed significantly at least on a small scale to global warming. At least in my office it did... :p

I couldn't agree with you more, but I think that BigLou is having a profound effect on the global warming issue...:rotfl:

If every terrestrial plant were to go extinct tomorrow, there would still be more than enough oxygen produced by oceanic plant life to support all of the oxygen breathers on this planet.

I think that the most important issue facing our species is overpopulation, or the next big disease epidemic.

Global Warming is TRUE

Just like the fact that Cat5 hurricanes are more prevelent now than in the recent past. Of course, that does not mean it was not cyclical.

The earth was warming prior to the Yucatan meteor.

The earth was warming before Mt St Helens blew its top.

Both of these events caused cooling.

We have had an influence on climate change but nothing like what the climate does in its cyclical nature.

Also, keep in mind that scientists used to think that meteors NEVER hit the earth. They thought that as recent as 60 years ago until proven wrong later.

The problem is not Global Warming. Hysteria with lack of information is the problem.

It is just a cycle. In a few years we will start cooling and then we will warm back up and so on and so on.

So...... I guess we need to hope Ray Charles heirs are willing to fund future research projects, eh? :nener:
