I am looking at getting a new 250 four banger, i mostly ride hare and hounds , with the odd local snotty fforestry enduro and the occasional trail ride with some mates. I am looking for a bike to do all this on.
I have been riding clubman in enduros for just over a year and enjoyng it.
i am currently riding a husky 125 which i i love the susspension and its nimble handling, but i cant help but think the grass is greener on the other side and fancy 250f. I did have a crf 250x last year for a while but couldnt get on with the front end?! it just felt like washing out everywhere, tried different tires, settings, no joy so we swiftly parted company.
how do the other 250f's compare on handling to the crf (and my wr 125). The bikes i have in mind are the RMZ/KXF250, or YZF/wr 250.
How are the MX'ers like in the slower tight trails, hard work or good fun?
I dont compete in moto X just mainly hare and hounds.
all replies are greatly appreciated

I have the same problem, i feel too that the front end is washing often. I'm coming from yz250 '02, now i'm on yz250f '05, Dunlop756 front, Ms3 back, race sag ok . Now i'm so sorry i went 4 stroke :bang: . For trail and enduro nothing is like 250 2 stroke!

the TE 250 does appeal to me, a recent recent mag review said it was their favourite of the bunch of 250F's, out of the 'enduro' models they tested (no rmz/kxf). Althought the TE was the heavyest of the bunch it apparently rode light.
They are expensive as over here in the UK £5400 uk pounds!
i can get a RMZ for over a £1000 cheaper.

but what are the motorcross bikes like in the slower going ? on the tighter , technical trails do they have a tendancy to stall ? do they need to be reved all the time?
and do you need to modify the bike a little to get it suited to more 'general' off road riding as oppose to motocross.
thanks for the replies guys.
with regards to the handling of 4's compared to 2's, its interesting to hear that someone else felt the same as me with the front end feeling 'not planted' , is that possibly a weight issue on the 4 strokes.
