Group ride Feb. 11 and 12, Muenster

A bunch of KTM pukes from KTMtalk are planning a group ride Feb. 11 and 12 at Muenster. I have reserved the pavilion. About 30 riders are expected. I'd like to invite all my DRN pals to attend as well. Yes, they are KTM riders, but they otherwise appear to be almost human, and the more the merrier I always say, except when referring to head lice, which I almost never do.

Anyway, no registration or anything like that needed. Just show up near the pavilion and hang out with a bunch of misguided orange riders out for trouble.

Sounds great! Are you bringing any of the kids? Or are they all away at school? Maybe I'll bring my family and the grill up (unless the burn ban is still in place).

Grills are OK if we have a lot of water on hand and a sprayer. I'll be bringing Scotty and maybe April, if she wants to go. Hope to see you there, Seldon.

I have to work for a couple of hours on Saturday and have some thinks that are getting behind and piling up. I may escape if I can on Sunday. I would hate to pass up a chance to clash with all those orange thangs.

I'm pretty sick, and might not make it Saturday. If I feel well enough, I'll come out, but it's 50-50 right now. I might feel better by Sunday, and if I do, I'll be there. I hope I can do it.

hey james im riding down with tony to the louisiana ride next weekend. find another and we can convoy down there together. we plan on leaving whiterock lake (tony's house @5:00am). the louisiana gang are a fun bunch and im looking forward to riding somewhere different.

we have been watching the weather down there. as it stands, the trails have been closed since late january and it looks like more rain is in the future. i called tony this afternoon and have decided that if they are not open by wed, we are not going as there are no other riding options if the national forest is closed. ill give you a call monday night.

Why don't we go to the Kiamichi this Saturday? Art is going to ride one more time before he has to go back to work for a few months. Scotty probably is going to pass on this one, but I'd be up for a nice long ride out there. Gene, James? Seldon?

James: Gilmer (aka Barnwell, texasmotorizedtrails.com) is very nice. Not quite as big as Muenster, but still a big place. About 1800 acres. A nice variety of terrain, with lots of elevation changes.

Jim: Kiamichi sounds great, but I think I'll ride this weekend somewhere that my youngest son (Joseph) can ride. That probably means either Muenster, or Barnwell. I'm leaning toward Barnwell, if there isn't too much rain.

Your April/May ride to New Mexico/Moab sounds great. I hope to join you. I'll follow-up with you.

Jim: what's Kiamichi like after rain? I know you and others went swimming/riding there a couple of years ago. If it's too muddy for my family at Muenster/Barnwell, Benjamin and I might be up for Kiamichi.

Kiamichi is fine no matter how much rain it gets. So much rock, it just doesn't get muddy. And it's not that slippery, either; not much more so than when it's dusty. As long as we don't try the really nasty hills, like the OMOH (One Mile of Hell), we'll be fine. Come on out. I'm leaving Friday night about 8 p.m., sleeping in my van, riding Saturday and returning home Saturday night.
