Greets,

I've recently replaced my crooked bars with some Renthals standard bars and sure enough, I bent those as well. I can't believe how weak those things are.

In any case, I'm considering buying a set of TAG bars but I'm unsure how to pick the best bend or size.

How do you guys decide what model to get?? I'm not wealthy enough to "experiment" with different models so whatever I buy is what I'll have to use.

My approach was to keep track of which bars I've run and then decide what properties I like and dislike. I tend to like flat straight bars (little rise and pull back). Then I went to the renthal website and looked at all the bars they manufacture and pick out bars with the attributes I was looking for (Lamson/Carmichael bend). I hate McGrath bend bars, for some reason I cannot lay the bike over in a turn. I think it has to do with the rise and pull back putting my wrists in an awkward position.

The other way is to get sponsored by a bar manufacturer and test every bar they make or have them custom bend a set for you ;)

I am in the same boat. My bike( 91 yz250) came with cr low bend bars and I figure for my height ( 6'2" ) I should have high bend bars. But after that I have no idea what other things like sweep I should be looking at.
