Regarding dirt bikes 2 strokes make much more power per given displacement more economically than 4 strokes and with many fewer moving parts and less weight and less intrusive noise, and with less waste product dumped, therefore they are more environmentally friendly than 4 strokes. Hence politicians say the opposite. :aj: :bang: :bang:

The simplest explanation, 2-strokes fire every 360 degrees of crank rotation, 4-strokes every 720 degrees. They really have very little in common.
