This is kind of a riding/tech tip so i just put it in this forum, I finally rode my dirtbike today, and it is a kx100, but i was mostly riding on our high schools cross country course, i was in about 3rd gear most of the time, but i didnt have the throttle pinned, i was mostly on the bottem end of 3rd, when we got done riding, my bike wouldnt start, and it wouldnt bump start either, so i changed the plug, and it was fine, Can anyone tell me what happened, AND, how to avoid it???

Let me see. I had this problem before. First of all, check your premix. I changed my plug, everything, but my tank was empty. Second check your filter. It can get so full that there isn't any air getting to the engine. Check for spark. You can do this by taking your plug out (but attached to the cover), put the plug against the head, and kick the kickstarter, if there is spark that's a good sign. Next, try changing the plug (for good luck). Take the carb off and blow it out with compressed air. I can't help you out if that doesn't work. Good luck

It's very common

If you lug around a 2 stroke very long you need to "clean it out" every once in a while. What I mean is just rev real good to burn all the oil off the plug. Kick it down a gear every once in a while if you're just putting around and that should do it.

Once you foul a plug your best and easiest bet is to replace it, they are cheap and once they foul they are likely to do it again. Like yzeater said, keep your air-filter clean.

Hondaguy332 - you were riding on your high school's cross country course? Is that cross coutry as in running? Or does your school sponsor motorcycle riding?

No, it is for running, we just ride on it for fun, but man, that would be so great if our school would sponser motorcycle racing, i mean have like a new school sport, but I doubt that it will ever happen. :(

If it is jetted right you can ride it like a 4-stroke and it still won't foul plugs. I havn't fouled a plug since I changed my jetting back in August, and I often just lug around the woods.

Hondaguy332 - you missed my point. Unless you've got some special arrangement with your school or land owner, I don't think you should be riding on their course. People don't like dirt bikes for a couple of reasons, one of the main ones is folks riding where they shouldn't.

I'd guess the problem with your bike is the dirt bike gods have put a hex on it.:p
