A friend of mine bought an RM250 (02 or 03 i believe) a while back, when he got the bike it ran perfect, but when he checked the oil after a few rides he noticed it was VERY low because he drained it and only about 3 ounces were in the bike so he added the right amount of oil and once he started it up and took it for a test ride all kinds of smoke started shooting out the exhaust, i mean LOTS! of smoke and was very boggy so he drained ALL the oil out and test rode it like that and it ran better than it did with the right amount of oil, does anyone have an idea what might be the problem? PLEASE POST ! thanks

P.S. im makin sure he dosen't ride it for now till he fixes it

Bad crank seal.

And now that he rode it with no oil possibly a bad clutch and transmission bearings. Why in the hell would you drain all the oil and then ride?!?!?

Ive been told buy a suzuki dealer that you should always add 50cc more oil than what it says to on the rm's, but for what reason? Anyone know..

My bet is that the seller was aware of the problem and drained the oil to make the big run OK so that he could sell it.. . I could be wrong.. .

A guy a know of drained the oil of his engine before he sold it, due to an oil leak.
Boy did that engine seize up after a while.. .

Good luck!
