Hi, my name is Andrew and I'm currently a Sophomore at the University of Connecticut (also live in a nearby town, but live in the dorm during the year). I've been looking at this sport for a while now, considering whether or not I should get involved (although admittedly, there has been little thought of not getting involved haha). I've got a few of my friends on board for this adventure as well. We've been into skiing, snowboarding, ski-dooing, mountain biking (as well as making custom dirt jumps), but as you can see, a majority of those activities are during the winter and we want something with a little more speed and excitement.

I currently don't have a bike, which is why I'm looking around the net and am trying to figure out the difference between brands, materials, and components. I'm pretty clueless in this regard, but i've got a bit of time before this coming spring (which is when I plan on purchasing a bike). I've been looking around and am currently looking at a four-stroke engine for fuel efficiency purposes, although I am a bit concerned regarding the power difference between the two stroke and four stroke.

The terrain I eventually wish to ride on will be moderately rough. It'll be pretty hilly and eventually I want to be able to hit jumps. These are my goals and some of them may take years to perfect, but I look forward to the challenge.

I look forward to talking a bit on here. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the site

Thanks for setting up your User CP and updated information relating to your location. Grab a spot on the couch and tell us a bit about yourself. How long you have been riding, what kind of riding you prefer, where you are located, etc. We will do our best to hook you up with some fellow dirt bike enthusiasts.

Be sure and check out the Damn Yankee Dirt Riders forum for some folks in your area.

Again, welcome to the site and shout if you have any questions!
