CR500 thanks for chiming in..... i heard you were not allowed to ride there on bikes they had to be 3/4 wheelers or trucks. I am just getting back into it and have been trying to spend more time getting comfortable again while still spending some time on the track. that is the *****hills correct. How often are they open and how often do you ride out there maybe we could hook up.

I live in VA but ride in FL a bit. I just got back from a week trip to Hardrock MX (super cool place) and croom (also super cool).

I'd highly recomend hardrock

Hard Rock is at the top of my list. It is far enough away that it has to be a weekender. Did you camp? Are the bikes safe overnight if locked up? What is so appealing about hardrock is the diversity of riding. Please share more pics if you have some. looks like a blast.

Yep I camped. Its nearly a 1k mile drive for me, but well worth it. I have an enclosed trailer and locked the bikes in it overnight. Several other people had their bikes chained to a tree or truck next to their campsites and didn't have any problems. I know the track owners suggest not leaving bikes there for weeks on end unattended (even if in a trailer) as one was stolen a while back but I don't think they have had any issues with bikes getting stolen while you camp there.

They have the main MX track which is a semi-technical man made track with lots of jumps. The outback track which is smaller and great for begniners or warm up. The sand track which is pretty decent, but lacks any major hills. The Roller Coaster which is a natural terrain GP style track, very hilly and fun!

I have lots of pictures hosted on my postwhore.biz account. Check out pages 2-4 under "dirt riding" (note: the first half of page two is from various places in VA, the latter half of page two and all of three and four are Hardrock).

WOW looks like you all had a great time... did you have the suspension in that crx rebuilt to handle the track? The Rollercoaster/GP track looks really hard pack or even shelly. Did you have to switch tires out or just dealt with it? Also, I didn't notice any other riders. I assume it was during the week. Did you hang out to see how bad the weekend traffic was...... i am totally stoked on that place now and am tryin to get some boys together for a long weekend. Thanks so much for posting!!!

The bike is a mostly stock 2001 CR250R - its street registerd and has lights but the suspension and motor are stock save exhaust. I ride harescrambles, MX and enduros on it!

I had a very worn out set of 756's on the whole time. They worked ok, but were not great (mostly because they were quite worn out) but I wasn't racing and didn't really care. I was there during the week. There were a couple dozen other folks there most of the time, even Tim Farr showed up for a while (first time I've been passed by a quad on an MX track). I wasn't able to stay for the weekend as I had to drive home to VA to be at work on Monday.

Hard or intermediate to hard terrian tires would be perfect for everthing but the sand track. The roller coaster is super hard for the most part and the outback and main tracks are fairly hard. The sand track, is of course sandy, but the jumps are mostly made of a fairly hard sand/clay mixture. You could get away with an intermediate tire just fine on the sand track. Unless your really worried about getting awsome laptimes or racing I wouldn't stress too much over tire choice.

From what I was told, the sand track and main track can get somewhat busy on weekends, but not ususaly too bad on weekends. The outback track and especially the rollercoaster hardly ever get very busy. I'd highly recomend the place, it was loads of fun:)

No problem. I haven't made plans to come back down, but most likely will sometime within the next year. Spring break (I work full time, wife is in school) is a slight possibility.

Oh, I forgot to mention, they also have a decent harescramble course. But with croom not far away its not all that attractive. Croom has the big quad trails, but it also has miles of very nice, tight single track:)

Ok well we ride here in Panama City at County Line MX...also ride at Milton, Laurel Hill; Crestview; Riverside in Newton, Alabama; FasTrack in Cairo, Georgia; and Ruby Hills in Chaserville, Georgia. Did ride a few times at Lakeland, Georgia and Adel, Georgia (before they closed it down). Is there anyone out there closer to NW FL Panhandle?

I'm not too far from you, just north of Tallahassee. I ride southwest of the airport in the Apalachicola National Forest- around 600,000 acres to play in. Tate's Hell is further south near Carrabell but I haven't been yet. Fastrac is about 20 miles from me. I haven't ridden the track but been to watch a few races. Ezra Lusk has been opening his track for weekend riding in Bainbridge but I haven't ridden it either. I like woods riding more but really ought to try the tracks.

Awesome, my friends are Eat Me Racing out of Nashville, GA. I'm here in Panama City, have ridden a few times, but am finally buying my own bike and really going to learn how to ride. Just lookin around to see who rides near me. Never trail ridden before. Sounds like fun.

Well I have my eye on a CR250, but I would really like a KX more than anything else. I know where one is at now, but its a 125 and I'm debating on it cause I'm thinkin in a lil while I'll 'outgrow' it.

There ya go! You'll definately have more fun with a riding buddy. I got bikes for both of our sons- 15 & 6, but only take the oldest with me. He's slow but we have a good time. We have plenty of yard for the 6 y/o to ride in and he doesn't want to go off with us anyway.
