Well I have purchased my last items from Hipersports. Two things that really made me mad. The first is the fact that I ordered a piston and gasket kit and was charged 20 bucks for shipping and handling. That was ground shipping. Then it was a week late. On top of that they sent me any oversized piston. Now that I checked their prices aren't even that good. Never again will they appear on my bank statement.

Did you ask them what their shipping was going to be before you finished the order??

Why does that give them the right to charge $20 shipping for such a small order? Are you saying they can charge whatever they want if you fail to ask about it beforehand? Some of these dealers have alot to learn about keeping customers happy. Just because a customer forgets or does not know to ask every question in the book does not mean you as the dealer can charge any fee you want. When I call and place a order and then at the end say, throw in a couple 6mm bolts for that sidepanel does that mean it would be allright to charge me $5 each for them since I didn't ask the price?

I guess I don't see the relevance to your response. As a customer don't you expect shipping to be reasonable prior to making an order? Why should you have to ask about it beforehand. It should be expected to be fair.

Kawboy, check the label and tell us what the actual shipping charge was based on the distance, box size, and weight. How much did they overcharge you? Have you called them to find out why the difference? You have to expect to pay some extra for the price of the box and packing it. How much more did they charge you than actual cost? If it was a few dollars I don't think you have a right to be upset because they do have to pay for the box, packaging material, and some labor to pack it. It would be easier to know if they took advantage if you were more specific.

I'm with you though, if they rip me off or someone I know, they will never see my business. When word gets out about what they do how long do you think they will be around?

Whoa! I just asked if he asked what it was BEFORE they shipped it. I have never purchased anything from them and I agree that $20 is a major rip off unless I guess they shipped it next day air and didn't tell him. I just think it is good practice to ask how much it is going to cost to ship it before you hang up. Ground shipping should NEVER cost that much. I take Kaw_Boy_5's post as a warning and will remember it on my next order. I guess he didn't ask them.. But I would call back and complain because that is waaay too much.

The shipping came from CO to CA and the charges were broken down as 16.73 shipping and 5.47 handling. I do know that last time I mailed a pipe in to be repaired the bill was 9.00 for 3 day delivery from the post office. I spoke with them and they said the 5.47 covered the box, insurance, and packing so the 16 bucks was for shipping a box half the size of a shoebox and very little weight. Things like this really drive me crazy as a customer or I guess I should say ex-customer

I like motoworldracing.com it tells you on the site what the shipping will be none of this guessing. Usually very prompt in shipping also, I also like motosportsoutlet.com as long as the items are in stock you get them right away. If they don't have them they call you that day or the very next day or tell you up front. Hypersports makes all it cash back on its high shipping fee's.

Did you get that off the box or from your itemized statement? The actual cost of shipping should be on the label on the box and if it differs from what they charged I would call them to find out why the difference. I do not think the $5 and change is unreasonable to handling.

MikeT, I didn't mean to sound like I was coming down on you. I just don't think you should have to ask before what charges are to expect to not get ripped off. Sorry if I sounded that way. We have all been where Kawboy is and the thing that I don't get is why these dealers will do it. I mean, cmon, you make a few extra bucks on shipping and you piss the guy off to where he will never buy from you again and will tell all his buddies not to buy also. Then of course they tell all their buddies and before you know it Hipersports wonders where the business went. All for a few extra bucks? Does not make sense.

Some dealers will offer lowball prices and then overcharge on shipping and handling. That is a common problem on Ebay. Another slick method is to send things in a box larger than they need to be sent in since shipping is also based on the size of the box, not just the weight.

You have to be the worlds dumbest business man to do this. Not worth losing the customer over such a small amount.

Karterron, Well said and right on the mark. The box didn't show the actual shipping cost so I am not sure by how much I was taken, but I would guess the actual cost to be about 3-4 bucks from past experience. I would like to buy this stuff local but the dealer here but he wanted 120 for a piston. Sorry but I don't think so.

I'd call and complain and hey, they're on the internet so email them the link to this post. I'm sure they would like to see what people are saying about being raped by their shipping charges!

I TOTALLY AGREE! What we all need to do is remember this post and ask anyway because as you have said and we've all found out a time or two, companies will get you a good price, then SLAM us with MEGA shipping costs. $16 is WAAY to much for shipping. I just shipped a box 20"x18"x14" from Charlotte, NC to Dallas, TX with some medium weight stuff (forgot the weight) via FEDEX for $5.82 ground. MIND you I took the same package to the USPS and they wanted $10.94!!!!! Same package, same destination, same method of transport. Shop around when you send something, and make a vendor disclose all his shipping and handling charges to you before you hang up as it is your only "protection".

It's sad, but it seems like most companies don't know how to make money anymore so they are doing it via fees and bogus charges like Kaw_Boy_5 got hit with..

they do it b/c the parts are commodities, & people are shopping only for the lowest price, esp. over the internet. they quote a low price to take the sale from the dealer who quotes the out-the-door price, then try to make it up with shipping & handling. i predict that this wll happen more & more as the market focuses on price more & more & internet sales become more prevalent.

First, don't beat up on Mike. Second, motoworldracing is very good, if they have your parts in stock, if they don't, you've got no chance. Some places have to charge a base shipping (I ordered $.50 of bolts from Service Honda and it cost me $8.50 with shipping, but it was my mistake, so it's okay). MX South doesn't charge shipping to DRN members

No , He's not kidding. He will only charge you shipping if he has to match a competetors price. Just make sure you know what he is sending you. He switched a product on me without notifying me and I was a little agitated. I ended up paying more than I wanted to for the tube but I'll still give him another shot. One thin is that his stuff ships FAST! Also try Rocky Mountain. ZERO problems with them.

I have also had good luck with the two places listed. The big name mail-order houses have had it too good for too long. The one exception is if you can go into Crapparall in person, then there's some deals to be had.
