I just bought a brand new 05 CRF250R and in the process of break in right now. Anyway I’ve never been on a 4 stroke and I have very little knowledge of four strokes. I have only been on 2 strokes. My question is are there any aftermarket parts recommended for CRF I have heard that I should change out the water pump and coolant cause the four strokes tend to heat up quite a bit and that they burn oil alot. Basically I’m not sure if should mess with it or add aftermarket coolant or like a boyesen pump any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Fill it up with gas, set the suspension, change oil frequently and just ride it. ;)

Are you serious that’s to easy to good to be true im use to changing out top ends, making sure im always on throttle to avoid fouling plugs making sure oil and gas mixture is good so that I don’t run to rich or to lean..Anyway there has to be more to keeping up a crf but I guess not..

There is a very complete maintenance schedule listed in the factory service manual. Following that will keep the bike happy for a long time.

Ya I got the basic maintenance service down from the manual but I just wanted to see if there were any aftermarket recommendations that might improve performance and reliability for the engine like the boyesen pump for example is it worth it or the stock pump is fine just anything that you have added and saw some improvement and liked..

The bike is really well done in stock form. Once the valves wear out changing to stainless steel can improve long term reliability. I think you'll be very happy with it in stock form.

I've had very good luck doing that.
