Hot start for YZ250F

I read Rich Rohich's excellent explanation of how to start a 2002 YZ250F and printed it off for my son to read. I just got him a 2004 YZ250F and he's going well on it, but if he stalls out it is a devil to get running again.
I noted on the 02 model there should be a red hot start button on the carb, but there isn't one on the 04 model. Does anyone have any tips on getting this model fired up again before the others have carved out a lap advantage?

The hotstart is on the clutch perch on the 03+ models. that is what the little lever is.

you also have to keep the plunger clean and lubed up so it does not seize in the bore.
