How do you tell if your cylinder has nikasil plating?

I have just torn down my son's '94 yz 250. I look at the cylinder and it appears to be just a cast iron liner. Is there an easy was to tell if it has some type of plating?

use a magnet-shouldnt stick to a plated cylinder.

Well if your cylinder is a stock 94 it should have a plated bore.. the last YZ250 to have a cast-in sleeve was in 90. And your saying it looks like iron so I'd it's been re sleeved.. If the magnet sticks
