My cylinder has some scratches in it and I was wondering how much cylinder plating will be taken away with proper honing?

What is the proper hone and procedure for hoing these cylinders anyway?

A ball hone will not remove any measureable amount of plating, it will only degalzed the surface.

You'd need a Sunnen hone to remove an real material, and depending on the plating it may require a diamond stone.

Since I don't necessarily want to remove any real material, what brand or grit would you suggest?
