HEy Guys! I was just wondering how tall you would need to be to taouch the ground on a crf250. I am as of right now only 5' 4" and am 14. I race a cr85 but was hopin that buy the first of next season I would be tall enough and skilled enough to move up. My SKills are improving but I still need a lot of work to be ready for the thumper but I'm not exactly goin through a growth spurt. So I guess my question is how tall do you suggest I wait untill to get the 250f. I can always wait i gues i still got another year untill they kick me out of the 85 classes. :aj:

i havent ridden a crf250, but its prolly a little tall for you. But that doesnt mean you cant ride it. But Like my uncle always says. If you can touch the ground on both sides of the bike, its prolly too small. :thumb:
He's always been short, but when heused to race, he had to literally put a rock under his left foot in order to kickstart the damn bike.
Hah i know thats not always the case, he's just very short. Hes shorter than I am. Im guessin 5 5? not sure. And he still races his gasgas ec200 as well. Im about 5 7"(on a good day), and I was lookin into getting a 450, but not sure. Im currently on a gasgas ec200 also. which is prolly a little taller than the crf? maybe not. Hope this helps.
You might find someone with your height on a similar bike

hey you could also stuff a 250f motor in your frame :yeehaw: I know bbr sells the bikes complete for about 13k lol. That would be a sweet bike!

I see lots of shorter 85 riders on 125's. At first alota them use blocks on the starts and hope they don't fall anywhere. As they get a little older and a littel taller it's no problem. They might still opt for start blocks but can usually manage if they fall. Alot can change in a year when you're 14...you might grow like a weed. At 6'2" I have no issues going flat-foot with both feet on my 250f :)

I'm 5'3" and just got a CRF250X a few weeks ago. We slid up the front forks, soften up the rear suspension and installed a Kouba link. I can tippy toe on both sides now and kick start it if I need to. When I'm riding, the seat to foot peg height is very comfortable. I don't have any trouble in turns either.

I think you would be surprised at how easily you would adapt to a 250F. I'm sure by next season you will be more than ready...

I'm 5'5" (quit growing 10 years ago) and have been riding big bikes for the past 5 years with no problems. I currently ride a YZ 250F with stock suspension and I can handle it just fine despite being short. As mentioned above, I usually use a block for starts, but once you get moving, being short isn't much of an issue. You might find it a little hard in the turns at first, compared to an 80 where you can easily touch, but you should get use to it pretty quick. I have rode my friend's CRF 250 a bunch as well and find it just as easy to ride (all stock suspension too).
