How to remove clutch side handlebar plug?

I am about to install some barkbusters.....The handlebar plug on the right side was fairly easy to do. About two dozen hits with a chisel and hammer and I was able to knock it back into the handlebar...
The clutch side plug is another animal. I've probably hit it 250-350 times, drilled it with a drill bit and still it doesn't want to budge...For various reasons I don't want to go with aftermarket bars just yet..
Anyone have any tips for getting this clutch side plug out?
Thanks....Greg

What worked for me was drilling a hole into the plug, then taking a small lag bolt, inserting it into the hole and turning the bolt with a wrench.

Those anti vibration plugs can be a real PITA.

Poor "BETSY"

Betsy is getting some new FLY Aero Flex CR high bend 7/8" bars this week.....I hit my hand with the hammer today one too many times----came right inside and ordered the bars even before I put a Bandaid on it.....I was cussing up a storm in the garage.

I tried but the stock bars beat me.

I drilled + tapped the plugs and got new bolts. Way stronger and lighter than the goofy expanding things that come with the bark busters.
