What is the cheapest way to set up a 2001 KX100 for bottom to mid range torque for trail ridding.

I think the cheapest thing to do would be going up a tooth or two on your rear sprocket, or going down one on your counter sprocket.

Prolly the most effective way is to add a 10oz flywheel weight. If you do the work yourself, it's fairly cheap. You could get the bolt-on kind and that would make it easier to install.

Moose also has a reed block spacer that will add more low end to the bike. Also, adjusting the timing, running thicker base gasket, and a torque pipe will help.

More expensive is to have it ported for more low to mid.

Generally, you'd want a thinner base gasket for low-mid.

Porting is cheaper than a pipe, if Eric Gorr does it.

Sorry Vic, needed another cup of coffee. I get myself confused at times. Thanks for the correction.
