i started on the rear last week. Take down your linkage and throw out that stupid yellow stuff yamaha uses as lube. Its suprising how much differnce a bit of grease will make!
I agree about the lube. I washed out the stock vaseline and went with the pretty, waterproof YZ Blue grease. It appears to be holding up well.
I wonder if the spring on thee 1997 YZ is a bit stiff. It is rated higher than the other years. No big deal really, I think someome has revalved my bike in a previous lifetime.
