I bought a 1972 Suzuki TS400, its in rough shape but mostly all there. I got it for 25$ and I own a '74 TS250 so I figured if I cant get it running I could use some parts. But here is the question. I'm disassembling the engine and all was going well until i got to the crank shaft Its not coming out of the left side housing, any ideas. If anyone has parts I may be intrested also.

Hmmm. Some will come out fairly easy with a rubber mallet, but most of the old two strokes Ive done have required a case splitter.
I made one, out of 1/2 inch think square of aluminum, about 1 by 1 foot square....drilled and tapped a large threaded hole in the center that lines up with the crank shaft, and drilled small holes around it in the patern of the magneto cover.....then the idea is to secure the plate to the case with several LONG screws, and then put in a large bolt into the threaded hole that lines up with the crank...then turn the large bolt against the crank and it will come apart.

I guess someone probably sells something like this but I dont know. Im sure there are other tricks also....

I split my cases (1974 and 1979 TS250s) with a $10 puller I picked up at Harbor Freight. It already came with the right screws. If you have alrweady split the cases and just can't get the crank loose, pound on it with a rubber mallet or a deadblow hammer. They can wedge pretty tight in the crank bearings.

Using the puller, can't you just drive the crank out though the bearing? You could also try heating up the bearing using a heat gun while using the case spliter. Been there, done that.

?? how about a 2x4 and a rubber mallet-you can soak it in boiling hot water -this will simulate a oven, take it apart ,clean and oil it
i also made a splitter
