2-strokes are FAR superior to 4-strokes if you factor in hp/cc... If the ama would level the displacement playing field, then 2-strokes would own.

hey now four strokes make good lawnmowers!!!!! haha. so what is it you dont like about the 4 stroke? it makes great power for 1000000cc displacement and if they break you only have to spend close to 5 grand to repair piston,clyinder,head, cams. 5 valves ect ect.and i love the riced out harley sound they offer!....... people complain they have to mix gas in a 2t, i hear thats really hard to do. all said and done both 2t and 4t have pros and cons but i believe in the future sombody will come up with a 2 stroke that will kill all four strokes because of simplicity and cost and power output.

Funny, watching last man standing I didn't see any four strokes towards the front of the pack. The announcers screwed up and talked a couple times about Kyle Redmund's CRF450 4 stroke and how well he was doing despite it being a four stroke - except that it wasn't, it was a 2 stroke :)

last issue of dirtrider (i think) had something about you killed the 2 stroke. in it it mentions how 4 strokes take twice the displacement to equal a 2 stroke. and that in the future they will make direct injection 2 strokes or something like that. but it said we will have to wait a real long time. when i get home from work ill type the whole thing up for you all to read

I think LMS said it all with actions, though the words at the beginning by David Knight and Guy Cooper were also interesting. They both talked about the 4 strokes being torquey and all but the 2 strokes were a major advantage for this type of event. As was pointed out earlier, the only riders that even qualified for the second half of the race were all on 2 strokes.

But to each his own. I like all motorcycles and would probably be on a big 4 stroke if I raced MX since that's the way the AMA wanted it. Likewise if I did dual sporting. But for offroad it's hard to beat the simplicity, reliability, and smiles/$$ factor of a 2 stroke.

I think there is a comparison between the ETEC outboard and the Yamaha 4-stroke for boats. I don't know anything more than that but if someone else does it would be interesting to hear the response.

All Im gonna say is make 250Fs race against 250 smokers and make 450s race against 500 2-strokes and let see what happens.
Id bet people wouldnt think 4-strokes were so superior then.
