This is one of those "chance of a lifetime" deals. I've taught him how to be safe, now it's time he learn how to be good.

I sure hope he's one of the first 50. Their latest sponsor, Remington, is covering the ammo for the first 50. At 1500 rounds per kid, that's at least a $300 savings!

I wasn't sure if that was juniors hooter camp or junior shooter camp before I opened the link. I was very afraid.

LOL!

I've been very proud of how well he handles himself. I took a couple video clips last month at a match. In the first one, he had a piece of hot brass bounce off the barricade and land on his neck. He did a great job of keeping control of the gun with the muzzle properly downrange. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNgMCyXLe04

At first I wouldn't let him shoot using just one hand (in many stages they require that some shots be strong hand or weak hand only) until I knew that he could control it well. He now does surprisingly well with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxCBWOjU2C8&NR=1

The cool thing is that he displays safer gun handling than almost all of the adults we shoot with.

Now I'm off to look for that juniors hooter camp, because he'll need a chaperone for that, too!

We also do some 3-gun matches (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun), but I don't have a shotgun for Tommy, yet.

It's great to see you spending time with your son doing something you both can enjoy. My father and I used to shoot alot when I was a kid. I think it's good for kids to be tought how properly handle and fire a gun and all the safety procedures. Alot of gun related accidents are because people don't know how to properly handle the gun.

Good luck to him! Hope he breaks the top 50 so you can put the money towards his shot gun.
