idle noise

When my 1998 KDX200 idles it makes a lot of mechanical racket. I've been told that it's normal for these motors. Can anybody here confirm that? I was told to use 1000 cc oil vs 700cc to quiet it down.

Yes, the KDX's make a ton on noise at idle which is "normal". I wouldn't use 1000cc. Just fill your oil to the top of the glass. On my 220 that's about 850 to 900cc. Ax

My 96 makes all kind of noise and has since it was new. Changes alittle when I pull in the clutch. My 95 was the same. I have always used a full qt. of oil in my bike w/ only good results.

o yes, it is normal, my 2003 does it, I think they call it like k-tick or k-temp.

Okay ... I feel better about the noise ... but ... what is it? I've never had that kind of buzzing before. Does it have to do with the KIPS system?
