Have any of you ever got in trouble for taking too much time off for injury related problems? I've had so many doc appointments, and time off for recovery that im scared someday i'll get fired. I don't want to stop riding.

yeah ive missed a lot of school and work because of injuries...neither the teachers or the boss are very happy. luckily my boss raced mtn and road bikes professionally and has been injured a lot himself so he is a little more leniant than i think most others would be.

I've worried about this myself, this year hasn't been what you'd call injury free. I just make it a point to make the Dr's appointments as convenient as possible around my work schedule. Basically, try to minimize the impact to your schedule. Your boss/mgr should recognize that effort and not give you too much grief.

I've never had any threats or issues .. yet.

What industry do you work in?

Alot of companies have sick time that is seperate from vacation time. Smaller companies may not have sick time but alot of companies have it. The type of industry you work in makes a big difference, agricultural, no way, construction, not very likely, medical, yes, finance, yes.

I don't know how many days you have missed because of injury but if its less than 10 days in the past year, I'd say it's not a big deal. Now if your gone for a month or two over the last year, then the others in the company may have been pulling your weight.

Good luck, ride safe.

I dont know what you do for a living, but I always go to work, injured and all. Im a real productive ? No. But I get enough done that no one really notices. I always downplay the severity and NEVER admit it was done on a motorcycle.(that includes what I tell the doctor, but that is the subject of another thread)

I injured my shoulder and it never really healed all the way so now every time I go out and fall it gets reinjured again. I'm also what you would call "accident prone" im not clumsy, but its just that bad stuff always seems to happen to me instead of the guy standing next to me. It's getting to be where im sick of going to the doctors, so I just don't ride for a couple of weeks to heal up.
