Installing rings

I know what they are, Im just not sure how to install them.
How do i know which ring goes where and how do I get them to stay on the piston to where it dosnt look like they are going to fall off?

Which bike? Two stroke or four stroke?

Do you have a shop manual for the bike you are working on?

Many times, there are some decent instructions in the piston/ring kit you are using.

Install them with the markings facing up.

If it's for a two-stroke there will be a specific pin in the ring grooves on the piston that the open part of the rings must fit over.

If it's for a four stroke then stagger the ring gaps so as that none of them line up.

Make sense.
