I've noticed while doing top ends that kdx's have a lot of casting slag closing off the port to the transfers on both sides of the intake. Has anyone ground this out without doing further porting and noticed any gains.
By closing off i mean that the casting of the cylinder is very poor in this area and there is only maybe 1/3 of the available port shape and size being used. I'm not talking about seeing just any old area that could be enlarged it's just that it looks like the factory doen't finish the cylinders very well. I have found this on both the 200s and 220s that i've worked on.
Yep, this happens with most cylinders from any factory. I ground out the cast ridges, but I did some other motor work along with it, so I'm not too sure how much of a difference it made. I'd go for it anyhow, its easy enough. :thumb:
