Hi Guys,
I haven't rode dirt bikes much at all for the last 15 years. Then, last year I picked up a Honda z50r for cheap and wound up sinking $700 into it in mods. It's just a good idea having a crazy little mini-bike around that anyone from 8 to 80 can ride :p I took it on a camping trip this summer to the Badlands of S. Dakota and pulled it out of the trunk of our rental car at a huge offroad area (lays down easily after removing the tank and handlebars). I rode that little thing for 4 hours straight!

I guess I caught the bug, so I just bought a bone stock 99 KDX 220r which looks like it has very low hours, but maybe not the best maintenance. It's very clean (except for the air filter) and pushed 150psi on a cold compression test. I'm going to grease everything up as recommended, but waiting for snow before doing the top end. My question is, how much leaner will it make the bike when I remove the air filter cover - enough to worry about, or just enough to clear up the somewhat rich OEM setting it has? I'm going to buy a bunch of plugs and various jets and go riding/tuning this weekend.
Thanks!

Lots of jetting info on this site, but they're supposed to be stupidly rich so you'll be safe to remove and ride assuming stock jetting (never assume, check).Jetting can be an individual thing for a host of reasons including your personal prefrence for air filter oiling, so best to become your own expert.
