Hi.
I have YZ125 1999 and my brother have CR250 1998.
Lately I am riding a lot on my brother's bike and I am getting tired very fast,
basically I am not in good shape ,but riding hard I can go on my YZ for 8 to 10 laps , and 4-5 laps riding my brother CR.
Can any one tell me if it's regular to get tired on 250 then on 125? May be its something else? Suspension? Any one has any Idea??

I sent my YZ cylinder for replating, so I am going to race on my brother's bike next month, and for now its looks like I want be able to finish the race (12 lap's beginner level), so please help!
:ugg:

Thanks

12 LAPS - WOW!!

It could be a combination of the extra bike weight and possibly the suspension not being right for you. Looks like you might need to do a little extra training so you can finish those 12 lap races on the 250!

A 250 is always harder to ride than a 125.

The weight is a factor here, but I would say the power it delivers
and you to control it makes you work harder on a 250.

Sometimes I practice on a very tight BMX style track and it's killing on my 250 YZ. It wares me out fast !On a 125 I'll last 3 times longer !

The tighter the track the less power you need to go fast.
I really think a 80 would even be faster on that BMX track than the 250.

And, if you are not really comfortable on the 250, don't race it.
You should fight the track, not the bike !!

In the 70's when the 50cc was still a real racing class in Europe,
I got disqualified by the officials ,'couse they measured 55cc in my bike.
Then I raced that bike (a VHS Kreidler)in the 125, amongst mostly Suzuki's.
I finished 7th overall !!
It was a tight track, and the Kreidler only weigted 120 pounds !
That made a large difference in the 2 x 30 minutes + 2 round race.

Saying that, you might even end up higher in the ranks if you would race
your own YZ125 in the 250's, and the crowd will love ye;) ;)

Thanks Cactus Rider, Your words make since, the track I am practice on is very tight, the longest straight is about 100'-120 ' , so this is probably the cause to the different between the 125 and the 250.
As you can see I am from Israel, and motocross is basically out of law (long story...lots of bureaucracy) so we have something like 40 to 50 motocross rider that racing regularly.
We have 5 levels:
Beginners - you can use any bike any size.
125cc - any 125 2 strokes or 250 4-strokes bike and rider must have
been at least 2 time on podium at the beginners level.
250cc - just as 125cc but bike is 250 for 2 strokes and 500 for 4
strokes.
Open class - any bike , and rider as 125.
Senior - as open class but rider age must be over 32.
I know it sound to you guys funny but this is the best we can do as long as it is out of law hear .
It's hard to be motocrosser hear
So now you can see that I can use the 250 or 125 in the beginners level ,the track is going to be less tighter then the one I practice , so I should expect the 250 to be easier to ride out there .
Next week I will be training on that race track and I will try the 250.
Nikki, you are right, in fact lately I am training (running, biking, pushup and so..) more then I riding the bike , It is my first race and I am not expecting much , just finish it ..

maybe i'm just odd, but i disagree with all of you. not to say you're wrong but i just think 250's are easier and way more fun to ride.

I ride a 250, but i think a 125 is harder to ride. theres alot more clutching involved. On a 250, the power is right there, on a 125 you got to wind it out to get the power. 125's are screamers.Just my 2 cents:cool:

I've always heard a 250 is much easier to ride but I've only riden one in the last 25 years and that was last year.
I think throttle control is a bigger issue on a 250 where as a 125 just hold the gas on and use the clutch. The 250 felt like it was going to pull my arms out of socket:eek:

I like the 125 myself. I like to ride it like a toy:aj:

I just made the jump from a 125 to a 250. I agree, the 250 is a lot easier than the 125. The power is there when you want it. Just have to squeeze a little harder with your legs to stay on! The 125, you have to do so much clutch and throttle work. The 250, just let her rip! The 250 is a lazy man's bike for sure....
