Is there any benefit to riding at an indoor track like the one in Tecumseh?

My son and I were in Tecumseh, MI a few weeks ago for a regional Tae Kwon Do tournament. On the way out of town we ran across this indoor motocross track so we stopped by. There were some young men & women running their 125's around the track, doing the jumps, doubles, whoops and berms. A very compressed track. It looked fun. However it also looked tight!

What I'm wondering is would an indoor track like that be rideable on a big bike like my WR500, which is designed with a much greater rake on the suspension and is probably much heavier? I am just trying to think of some ways where I can ride the bike and get in some seat time in a controlled, non-competitive environment which is safe. Would it be beneficial for learning technique or just an excercise in frustration and futility?

I ride with some guys on anything from a utility quad to a kx450f on a tight indoor track. Any seat time is good. Just ride within you and your bike's limits and you'll be fine.

Sure it's a good way to get seat time, practice jumps and whoops that you might come across in an enduro, fifeteen minute cardio sessions, figure out weak points in the bike and you. It might even be fun! Be for warned it's a little cold at these indoor tracks.

I swear it's colder inside than out. :yikes: The ventilation system sucks out any little bit of heat that builds up.
